This swimming gala is for any school-aged pupils with disabilities who are able to swim at least 25m of a recognisable stroke unaided.
Pupils can be in mainstream school, ASN education or home education and do not need to belong to a swimming club or swimming lesson programme. Swimmers do not need to have a classification.
Swimmers will need to have an up-to-date entry time for their events as our events are time-banded.
This is a qualification event for the Scottish Disability Sport National Junior Swimming Championships, which take place in November.
There is a -1 system for medals e.g. if there are only 3 swimmers in a race, only gold and silver will be awarded.
Parents, carers and other spectators are welcome to watch from the balcony. Swim teachers/coaches can be with children on poolside (and, where needed, a parent can sit on poolside to support their child if they’ve entered them individually).
No food is permitted poolside (except for medical reasons). Children should bring a still drink. There will be opportunities for children to go out to the cafe area/balcony and eat small snacks between their races. Food is available to purchase from the on-site cafe.
