After a hiatus in 2021, a much-enjoyed swimming gala returned to Grampian.
The Mary Duncan Swimming Gala, which caters for both junior and senior competitors with a physical, sensory or learning disability, returned in March after a year’s break due to COVID – much to the delight of swimmers from across the region.
Over 50 swimmers from across Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire & Moray attended the event, held at Aberdeen Sports Village, and despite many having just returned to the water, standards were high and a number of PBs were achieved. We were also delighted to welcome some new swimmers to the competition.
The competition acts as a qualification event for the Scottish Disability Sport National Senior Swimming Championships and it’s fantastic to have a full complement of Grampian swimmers attending these national events.
Well done to all those who attended and thank you to all of our volunteers who made it possible!
